The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for a Tenure-Track position in the Department of English at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Professor, with proposed starting date of July 1,2023. The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory English courses and senior courses in their area of expertise, including graduate level offerings. Interdisciplinary interests in other areas such as First Nations Studies or Environmental Studies, for example, are desirable.
The Department of English values diversity within its community; therefore, applications from scholars and creative writers who self-identify as First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous persons are invited for this position. Applicants with Canadian citizenship or permanent residency will be given priority.
A PhD is preferred, but candidates with a Master's degree, a record of scholarly activity, and evidence of commitment to teaching excellence will also be considered for this position. Teaching experience and published work are desirable. For this position, we seek an individual with involvement in Indigenous communities, Indigenous Literatures, and/or Creative Writing, but applicants with expertise in other areas will be considered.
