About the UNBC Chemical Inventory

The UNBC chemical inventory fulfills two important roles: safe tracking of chemicals and locations and support of chemical sharing to prevent unnecessary waste or stockpiling of chemicals.  When new chemicals arrive on campus, each container is marked with a UNBC chemical barcode and the relevant information is added to the inventory database.

The Dispensing Chemist is responsible for maintaining the chemical inventory.  However, all chemical users participate in maintaining an accurate chemical inventory.  As chemical containers are emptied, the Dispensing Chemist must be informed of the chemical type and the associated UNBC chemical barcode number to update the database.

Access to the inventory is restricted using an account system.  Account holders can view all chemicals on campus or search for a specific chemical.  Faculty and staff can request accounts by contacting the Dispensing Chemist.
