Program Offerings
![]() Beginning in the third year, the program offers students the ability to major in the areas of Accounting, Finance, General Business, International Business or Marketing. Students are required to take core third and fourth year courses from each business major. Accounting The accounting function is a critical tool for management in planning,
controlling, and reporting the organization’s financial
operations. An accounting major is recommended for students who
wish to become Chartered Accountants (CA’s), Certified General
Accountants (CGA’s), or Certified Management Accountants (CMA’s).
Finance
Finance involved valuing investments such as stocks, bonds, capital
projects, and options. Finance is a useful major for students
planning to start their own business, and is recommended for students
interested in obtaining the Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) or the
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations, or for completing the
Canadian Securities Course.
The General Business major allows students to obtain a reasonable depth
of knowledge in all the functional areas of business. Students
intending to be general business managers, or intending to pursue their
own business endeavours would be well-served by the General Business
major.
General Business Requirements Human Resources The Human Resources major will learn how to design, implement and evaluate Human Resources systems, practices and policies in such areas as recruitment and selection, retention, compensation and training, health and safety in the workplace, and liaison relations.
International Business focuses on the impact of the increasing
globalization of the economy and the impact of the international
environment on the functional areas of business management.
Graduates are well suited to work in forms or government agencies
involved in international operations.
International Business Requirements
Marketing is the set of activities needed to find, build, and served
markets for products and services. A major in Marketing is useful
for such positions as account representatives, brand managers,
advertising executives, and market researchers.
