Illustration Essentials
Illustration is an evocative form of visual communication. Illustration Essentials is a course where students examine a wide range of creative approaches that give visual form to abstract concepts and ideas. Emphasis is placed on rigorous brainstorming, matching form to content, non-literal thinking, and risk-taking. Students are introduced to the fundamental theories and practices in the field of contemporary illustration.
Students examine posters, maps, packaging, folding toys, book covers, magazine layouts, and more. Assignments are executed in an array of media including gouache, acrylic paint, coloured pencil, pen and ink, and watercolor.
This course is offered in partnership with OCAD University to offer a wide range of courses for enhancing your career expertise in web, design, photography, analytics, and technology.
Working with your OCAD U Account
As a student, you will receive an OCAD U user account, which will grant you access to the OCAD U learning management system, called Canvas. Your Canvas account will be enabled one week prior to the start date of your course. Login at canvas.ocadu.ca.
