Prince George Convocation Ceremonies

For guests, students should indicate when they register for guest tickets that their guests have accessibility needs.

For students with accessibility needs, please notify the Convocation Office so that we can discuss your needs to ensure appropriate provisions are made for Convocation Day.

The following accommodations are in place at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre (NSC) venue:

  • The NSC has an elevator for the public to use.
  • Event Assistants will be on hand to help direct guests.
  • A designated Accessible Seating area on floor level will be made available for those with wheelchairs/walkers, with limited mobility.*
  • Closed captioning text on a large screen stage left will be visible from the designated Accessible Seating area.*
  • Guests with accessibility needs can be seated with all members of their party.
  • As long as a SPARC or UNBC VIP Parking Pass* is visible on vehicle dashboard, guests with accessibility needs can be dropped off at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre in the round-about area located at the front of the building.

*Those students who have guests requiring these options must complete the Accessibility Questions when completing their guest ticket request, the UNBC Convocation Office will then liaise with the student to ensure guest needs met.

Only vehicles displaying an appropriate Sparc or VIP Parking Pass will be permitted to park in the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre parking lot.

The university is unable to provide wheelchairs for individual use. Those requiring wheelchairs for the duration of a ceremony should plan on making their own arrangements prior to arriving on campus.
