Student Life at UNBC fosters purposeful experiences that inspire students to build community, be active citizens, and become great leaders. These experiences introduce students to community building and leadership opportunities that will allow them to become engaged as active citizens. Through this engagement, students have the platform to transform into great leaders and, as great leaders, are empowered to build their own community and foster purposeful experiences of their own.

Introduction: A student's first introduction to building community is led by campus leaders during Orientation & Transition Programming.
Engagement: By building community we invite students to engage in programming outside the classroom (Student Life Programming), that inspires them to be active citizens with the UNBC community
Transformation: By getting involved in the UNBC community, students engage at a higher level and transform into great leaders through the Student Ambassador Program, and through volunteer opportunities on campus.

Your Community Network at UNBC

Through collaborative partnerships developed by Student Life with departments and services at all UNBC campuses and their communities in northern B.C., students have the opportunity to build personal and professional networks to support and enrich their university experience and create lifelong connections. 

Student Governance Opportunities:

UNBC Senate All UNBC students are encouraged to complete a nomination package for one of the nine student representative positions on Senate. Student Senator one-year terms are an excellent opportunity to gain experience in university governance as a voting member on Senate, join Senate Committees, and meet and network with members of UNBC's senior administration and the five faculties. Opportunities to nominate yourself as a student senator are emailed to your student email annually in late February by the UNBC Governance Officer.
NUGSS Undergraduate students are encouraged to connect with their student society and learn about the services NUGSS offers, discover the many student-led organizations on campus, explore volunteer opportunities, and become a representative of the undergraduate student community through a peer-elected position on the NUGSS Board of Directors or Council for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
NBCGSS Graduate students are encouraged to connect with their student society and learn about the services provided by NBCGSS, explore volunteer opportunities, and become a representative of the graduate student society through a peer-elected position on the NBCGSS Board of Directors.

Student Employment and Volunteer Opportunities at UNBC:

Below are a few of the many opportunities available to students for part-time employment and volunteer opportunities on campus in Prince George.

Student Career Centre The UNBC Student Career Centre maintains a Student Job Board with job postings both on campus and in the community and hosts the annual Northworks Career Fair.
Student Life Student Life hires several Student Ambassadors on an annual basis; click here to see current opportunities.
Academic Success Centre (ASC) The Academic Success Centre hires students for Tutoring Positions and Supplemental Instruction Leaders.
Housing and Residence Life Housing and Residence Life hires student staff every year as Residence Assistants.
NUGSS If you are interested in employment at NUGSS, Degrees Coffee Co., or the Thirsty Moose Pub, check out the NUGSS job and volunteer opportunities website.
TA Positions Graduate students are encouraged to apply for Graduate Teaching Assistant Positions.
Bulletin Boards NUGSS maintains two job and housing bulletin boards on the Prince George campus. They can be found at the entrance by the bus loop and on the first floor of Building 8 near the staircase to the IT Service Desk.
