Wood Innovation Student Award 2021
Submissions are encouraged to the University of Northern British Columbia’s (UNBC) Wood Innovation Student Award 2021.
We seek proposals for innovative structural use of wood or engineered wood products taking into account the material’s anisotropy, hygroscopic, viscoelastic, combustible, thermal, and renewable properties.
Scholarship amount: $10,000 towards the Master of Engineering Integrated Wood Design program at UNBC
Eligibility: Open to individuals and two-person teams.

Winners announcement: May 14, 2021 (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time
The winner(s) of the Wood Innovation Student Award 2021 will receive a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 toward the Master of Engineering Integrated Wood Design program at UNBC. Award will be split if awarded to a two-person team.
- One page with descriptive text (English only) explaining your concept project in the most efficient manner. (PDF file only)
- One page with plans and layouts of the concept project scaled adequately to ensure reading and comprehension of the plans. (PDF file only)
Participants are required to be eligible to apply for the program Master of Engineering in Integrated Wood Design, September 2021 intake.
Projects will be awarded for their innovation, utilization of Wood and Engineered Wood Products, uniqueness of the project, sustainability, environmental impact, and viability of the project.
The Jury will be composed of faculty members, who will act in the best impartial manner and will commit sufficient time and energy to the deliberations process.
The Jury retains the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the program requirements, that presents a conflict of interest, or is suspected of Plagiarism.
