Join Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina, who is visiting UNBC’s Prince George campus on Thursday, May 4.

Dr. Timmons is the first guest of UNBC President Dr. Daniel Weeks inaugural Speaker Series.

During her visit, Dr. Timmons will give two presentations at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Lecture Theatre 7-212.

Her first presentation at 10:30 a.m., entitled Together, We Are Stronger: The Indigenization of a University Campus, is open to UNBC staff, faculty, students and the Prince George community.

A question and answer period follows from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Her second presentation, at 2 p.m., entitled Women’s Leadership in Academia: An Issue for Everyone, is also open to UNBC staff, faculty, students and the Prince George community.

A question and answer period follows from 2:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Dr. Timmons, a member of the Bras d’Or Mi’kmaq First Nation in Nova Scotia, has been recognized with numerous awards throughout her career.

These honours have included being named one of Canada’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women” in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011; and she received the Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada Recognition Award in 2014 for her leadership in promoting and supporting diversity within Canadian academic institutions.
