The Impact of the Pandemic on Canadian Higher Education: The Implications of a Shift Toward Digital Learning

After an unprecedented year of emergency remote teaching due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian post-secondary institutions are looking ahead to the future and considering the possibilities for digital learning going forward. While a return to in-person learning is the anticipated scenario for Fall 2021, research conducted during the pandemic indicates that digital technologies and options for learning online are likely to be far more prevalent even when a full return to in-person learning becomes possible.

Speaker Bio

Over the past 12 months, Dr. Johnson has worked on multiple research studies tracking the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on faculty and administrators at higher education institutions in Canada and the USA. These studies have been conducted by the Canadian Digital Learning Research Association, Bay View Analytics (formerly Babson Survey Research Group), and Royal Roads University.
