New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) - Transformation (NOI)

The NFRF - Transformation stream is designed to support large-scale, Canadian-led interdisciplinary research projects that address a major challenge with the potential to realize real and lasting change (high-reward). The challenge may be fundamental, leading to a scientific breakthrough, or applied, with a social, economic, environmental or health impact. Projects are expected to be world-leading, drawing on global research expertise where relevant.

This year’s competition is open to interdisciplinary research teams composed of five or more members and includes mandatory notice of intent (NOI) to apply and letter of intent (LOI) to apply stages.

NOI deadline (mandatory): November 2, 2021
LOI deadline (mandatory): January 11, 2022
Full application deadline (by invitation only): September 20, 2022

Applications must be received in the Office of Research and Innovation a minimum of 5 business days in advance of the NOI and Full Application deadlines. Applications must be submitted to the Office of Research and Innovation via Romeo at the Full Application stage. Please allow enough time for Chair and Dean approval.
