Indigenous youth interested in a career in medicine will have the opportunity to learn more about the UBC Northern Medical Program at UNBC, as well as its sister medical school sites across B.C., at a three-day workshop this summer.

The Indigenous MD Admissions Workshop will run in-person from July 27 – 29, at the Dr. Donald Rix Northern Health Sciences building (home of the NMP) at UNBC's Prince George campus.

Some sessions will also be available for attendance through Zoom.

Various sessons over the three days will help provide Indigenous students with the tools and supports to be successful in their application to and completion of the MD Program. Workshop presentations will be given by Indigenous and non-Indigenous physicians, medical students, and university staff and faculty members.

The Indigenous MD Admissions Workshop is open to both high school and post-secondary students, and there is no cost to participants. Join us!

Please submit your application online, together with:

  • a report card or university transcript copy,
  • a copy of your proof of ancestry (see brochure); and,
  • a 500-word autobiographical essay, including who you are and why you want to become a doctor.

The deadline for applications has been extended to Wednesday, July 20.
