has been selected for the 2023 Robert W. Tait - Implementing Teaching Excellence Award!
He will present this year's Tait Lecture called
“From Zimbabwe to Prince George: My Teaching Journey”

Bio: Umesh Parshotam has been a senior lab instructor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry since 1999. In that time his work has focused on developing innovative course curriculum in Chemistry for 1st to 3rd year students. His teaching philosophy is centred around the development of student knowledge through scaffolding and spiral pedagogies, focusing on skill development to ensure student success. This lecture will focus on the pedagogy implemented in the courses. Dr. Parshotam’s teaching has been recognized through nominations for the University Achievement in Teaching Award (2006 and 2012) and as the winner in 2010. His dedication to student academic success was also recognized in his winning of the Advancement of Information Literacy Award in 2012 and the UNBC Timberwolves CapriCMW Insurance Unsung Hero of the Month Award in November 2020.
