Green University Planning Committee 

The Green University Planning Committee (GUPC) acts as an advisory and policy development body for all initiatives at UNBC that will contribute to the goal of being recognized as Canada's Green UniversityTM. The committee and sub-committees are made up of UNBC staff, faculty, students, and alumni.


Students for a Green University

Students for a Green University is UNBC's environmentalist club. They aim to educate, motivate, and inspire UNBC students, staff and faculty through activities such as the car count, Bottled Free Water Day and a radio show on CFUR, UNBC's campus radio station.

UNBC Alumni Association

The UNBC Alumni Association has a representative that sits on the Green University Planning Committee to help UNBC graduates stay connected with the university's green initiatives and to find meaningful ways to involved alum in these activities.

Northern Undergraduate Student Society

NUGSS has an Associate Director of Campus Sustainability who is actively involved in sustainability initiatives on campus, such as helping to organize the University Farmers' Market, Local Foods Day, and Green Day. This position works towards reducing the environmental impact of all NUGSS operations and events.

Prince George Public Interest Research Group

PGPIRG runs a number of sustainability initiatives on campus, from running a Sustainable Garden and Compost program, the Good Food Box supporting local food producers, to action groups such as the Sustainable Discussion Group, the Local Foods Action Group .
