Green Team

The University of Northern British Columbia is pleased to announce the creation of a Green Team, a team representing staff, faculty, and students, which promotes sustainability on campus.

The goal of the Green Team is to implement projects and campaigns that will encourage sustainable behaviours across campus, as part of the BC Hydro Workplace Conservation Awareness program. While energy conservation will be a focus, our scope is broader to include resource use and waste minimization. We welcome Green Team members to share ideas on what our priorities should be, and what activities and communication strategies could be used to green the UNBC campus.

How much time is involved?

All time is voluntary. The Green Team will meet twice a semester for an hour to plan and implement conservation campaigns. Outside of these meetings you will act as a champion to help raise awareness and promote behaviour change amongst your colleagues and peers.

What kind of activities will we do?

Some programs we have run in the past include Sweater Day, Earth Hour, Green Day, and Residence Eco Move-Out. As a new team, it will be up to the Green Team members to develop a game plan. This is our chance to create something great
