  • Academic year 2021-22
  • Winter 2022 only

Food Services / Meal Plan

Meal plans will be available and the Agora Dining Hall will be open starting September 6th. Please visit the Food Services website for details.

Housing Capacity

Currently, UNBC Residences are open at 50% occupancy. There is a maximum of two students per four-bedroom suite.

UNBC Residences are planning to be open at full capacity (4 students per suite) Starting September 6th.

Move-in appointment bookings

The Official move-in days are

  • Monday, September 6th from 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Tuesday, September 7th from 8:30am - 12:30pm

Each student must book their move-in time, and will be expected to adhere to their move-in time. Because of safety requirements surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to be flexible with move-in times. If students arrive outside of their booked move-in appointment, they will be asked to wait until their designated time. If you have accepted a Housing offer for an upcoming term, you will receive an email with move-in instructions approximately 3 weeks prior to move-in.

Guests in Residence

At this time, due to the current province-wide restrictions extended indefinitely, you may not have any guests in your suite. If you live alone in your suite, you may have one (1) guest, but they must currently live in one of the Residence buildings.

Please check back for updates regarding the Fall 2021 guest policy.

Safety Measures in Residence

We will continue to provide the services and amenities that align with guidance from health authorities, and help create a healthy, safe and supportive community environment. Here are some of the things we are doing:

  • Everyone is expected to wear a mask when they are outside of their suite.
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing throughout all common areas.
  • Additional hand sanitizer dispensers throughout Residence, as well as additional hand washing stations in laundry rooms.
  • Signage and information campaigns promoting physical distancing, hand-washing and safety protocols.
  • Elevator protocols have been adjusted and guidelines have been posted.
  • All Housing and Residence life staff have been trained to refer residents with cold or flu-like symptoms to the appropriate health care professional.

Quarantine (Self-Isolation) for Students Travelling From Outside of Canada

All individuals arriving to Canada are required by the Canadian Government to quarantine (self-isolate) for 14 days and to self-monitor for symptoms. This requirement includes UNBC Residence students arriving from outside of Canada, whether they are returning to campus, or moving in for the first time.

At this time, UNBC Residences are not able to accommodate the required 14-day quarantine (self-isolation) in Residence prior to Fall semester move-in.

If you are arriving from outside Canada, please visit the Self-Isolation Information and Support webpage for assistance with your quarantine.

Illness in Residence

A number of self-contained suites have been set aside for residents who become ill and require self-isolation/quarantine support after moving in. If this occurs, we will work closely with Northern Health to ensure all safety precautions are taken for ill individuals and other residents. Student residents who are ill are asked to contact the Housing Office for more information.
