The Institute for Social Research (ISR) is a reorganized and reoriented version of the previous Institute for Social Research and Evaluation (ISRE) established in 1997.

The Institute for Social Research is now located on the 3rd floor of the UNBC Library building, adjacent to the Educational Centre.
