Academic Planning

Academic planning at UNBC is being built on the theme of transition and new beginnings. The University examined the structure and programming that has supported its success for the past 25 years and is making changes that will allow the University to flourish and grow.

Phase I: Planning Framework (complete)

The Phase I Academic Planning Committee (APC) was assembled to take on the initial planning work and data collection required to assist with the preliminary stages of developing an Academic Plan. Comprehensive community engagements took place in 2015 to inform and develop the Developing a New Academic Plan - Phase I Planning Framework document.

Phase II: Developing a New Academic Plan (complete)

For Phase II: Responding to and Implementing the Academic Action Plan, five Action Planning Groups were assembled to continue the planning work, data collection, and collaboration required to develop an Academic Plan. The Senate Committee on Academic Affairs was the Steering Committee for these Action Planning Groups.

The members of the Academic Action Planning Working Groups represented a cross section of the community’s constituencies including faculty, students, Senators, and administrators.

Through various engagements and consultations, the UNBC community was provided opportunities to contribute input and shape the Academic Action Plan - Final Recommendations document. The UNBC Senate endorsed the Academic Action - Final Recommendations on June 28, 2017.

Phase III: Responding to and Implementing the Academic Action Plan (current phase)

In October 2017, the Provost’s Advisory Committee on the Academic Action Plan was created in response to the Academic Action Plan endorsed by Senate in June 2018. The committee plays an important role in supporting, advocating and advising on the implementation of the recommendations. The members of the Provost’s Advisory Committee on the Academic Action Plan represent a cross section of the community’s constituencies including faculty, students, Senators, and administrators.
