Faculty Collective Agreement - Implementation Working Group

UNBC Faculty Association
April 20, 2021

For the past two weeks, the University of Northern British Columbia Faculty Association and UNBC have met to discuss the transition to the newly ratified Collective Agreement. The Agreement is ratified and in effect while the Implementation Working Group works through the remaining transition articles. The Implementation Working Group assists in the timely adoption and implementation of the new agreement. The team has identified several short-term priorities for the months of April and May, including:

  1. Identifying and communicating a schedule for when members can expect retroactive pay;
  2. Implementing the new Senior Instructor category;
  3. Overseeing the implementation of the updated tenure and promotion process in time for this year’s cycle; and,
  4. The final proofreading and distribution of the Collective Agreement.

The Implementation Working Group will work with the appropriate units in order to ensure the effective implementation and communication of the new Collective Agreement.  More specific details and dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Working Group consists of Ted Binnema, Jacqueline Holler, and Donna Sindaco representing the Faculty Association, and Ronald Camp, Tracy Deck, and Bill Owen representing the University. This team will be meeting weekly to support the implementation process.

Sincerely,

Mark Dale
Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic
