An imposing figure on the pitch, the six-foot-one Lavigne covers plenty of ground for the Timberwolves. Just four games into her Canada West career, the native of Vernon has proven to have the physical tools to make an impact in every game. Alongside fellow centreback Mara McCleary, Lavigne will need to be good against a Cascades team that edged UNBC last season.

Player to Watch:
Brittney Zacharuk, M
A fourth-year midfielder, Zacharuk has emerged as the most consistent of the Cascades in the early parts of the Canada West season. A native of Delta, Zacharuk has already equaled her production from 2017, and will draw close attention on Friday against the TWolves.

Quotes:
UNBC’s Julia Babicz

On the Timberwolves’ readiness, coming off a four-point weekend…
“We are pretty pumped up. We are excited to have the chance to play UFV and Trinity Western again. I think it’s a standard of play we are looking for this weekend. We have a couple new formations, so we are ready to use those, and have everyone get comfortable playing together.”

On the matchup with the Spartans…
“A team like Trinity, they have four wins, with wins in all their games so far. They’re a great team at get getting balls into the box and shots in. Every game I have watched, they’re getting at least ten balls on net, so we need to find a way to match that, or try to shut them down.”

On the matchup with the Cascades…
“Against UFV, I think we really need to keep possession of the ball. We need to work it around them, and then be patient before we work it into that final third. We all have to be up together, supporting, and then work together to get a good shot off.”
