Tracking the summer diet, habitat of moose in northern B.C.

October 5, 2020

Watch as UNBC biologist Dr. Roy Rea and his team of student researchers spent the summer of 2020 combing the Macleod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest north of Prince George collecting moose droppings.

What is in those droppings will help identify what plant species are important to moose diets during the summer months. The research will also help the UNBC team determine what can be done to ensure plant habitats important to moose will be considered in forest management plans.

This is imperative for promoting the growth of summer foods important to moose that allow moose to sufficiently build their body mass to survive northern B.C. winters.
