Outstanding Fees and Accounts Policy

Account in Good Standing

All past due notifications will be sent to the member by email at 30, 60 and 90-day intervals. This will serve to notify the member of the outstanding account balance.  Accounts outstanding for over 90 days will be sent a notice of pending collection.

Late payment service charges at the monthly rate of 2% of the principal amount outstanding will be assessed. This applies to accounts 30 days past due. These charges will apply every 30 days until the account is paid in full.  All monthly payments that are returned are subject to a $15.00 administration fee. This includes NSF, closed account and stop payments.

Space bookings, membership cancellation and hold requests will not be processed if there are outstanding fees owing.

Accounts must be cleared of any outstanding balances before accessing Northern Sport Centre services. This includes memberships, booking space, or registered programs.

Membership Cancellation and Holds

All outstanding amounts and fees must be paid prior to cancellation and old request being processed.  This includes any fees after the request is made.

To cancel or place your membership on hold, please complete our online form.

Hold or cancellation requests will not be backdated. Medical reasons are only considered with a valid doctor's note. A maximum of six monthly payments, from the date of medical reason is permitted.

Memberships that are on a pre-authorized debit (PAD) payment plan (monthly fee charged to your bank account) must cancel/hold their membership by the 15th of the month to be considered for the following month.

For example:

  • June 11 hold/cancellation request cancels for July.
  • June 22 hold/cancellation request cancels for August.

Memberships are non-transferable. Allowing anyone else to use your membership is not permitted. This behaviour may result in your membership being revoked or suspended without notice or refund.

Parking Permits

Parking permits are no longer valid if you cancel your membership prior to the end of your term.  Displaying an expired or invalid permit may result in a citation.

Did you lose your permit? Was it stolen? Did you return it when you cancelled your membership? $10.00 replacement/admin fee will apply.

The permit issued to the member is the property of the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). It is non-transferable, and for the member's use at the Northern Sport Centre only.
