Biography

Maik Gehloff is a Senior Lab Instructor in the Master of Engineering in Integrated Wood Design program right here at UNBC. He is also the founder and owner of Gehloff Consulting Inc. Since he was a young boy trying to design and build the perfect tree house, Maik has always been a passionate learner. This has propelled him to maintain a deep interest in keeping his education and professional development up to date with current industry standards. He began his education by earning a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) degree in Wood Science and Technology, specializing in timber engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Eberswalde, Germany. He continued his studies once in Canada through earning a MASc. in Timber Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver. Maik has presented and participated in a variety of conferences and trade shows all over the world and is always happy to share his knowledge and experience with others. Maik is also a member of the Timber Framers Guild of North America as well as the Timber Frame Engineering Council.
