Biography

Having focused on a career in nursing for the past 27 years, Rae transitioned to a primary care Nurse Practitioner (NP) role in 2009. She has worked as an NP in a variety of primary and urgent care settings - most recently in two remote indigenous communities in Northern Alberta. Prior to completing her PhD from the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta, Rae was a sessional instructor for the MN:NP program at Athabasca University from 2011-2015. Rae's own research focus has been on sustaining the NP role and other innovations in primary health care. This research explores the concepts of sustainability and innovation and the challenges of sustaining innovation in primary health care environments in Canada.
