Miranda Doerksen
Miranda Doerksen, BSc 2020

Starting in the Fall of 2022, I will be in the first Northern cohort of the UBC Occupational Therapy Program. As part of my undergraduate studies at UNBC, I completed an Independent Studies project under Dr. William Owen, titled Comparison of FFA Activation in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Typically Developing Children While Viewing Faces and Objects. I am happy to share how a degree in Psychology from UNBC can help students pursue a variety of career paths!

Madeline Doucette
Madeline Doucette, BSc 2019

In the Fall of 2019 I will be starting my Master’s in Clinical Psychology in the University of Victoria’s clinical neuropsychology program. This is the ideal place for me to continue my research training. I wish to expand my experience with neuroimaging techniques to pursue my interest of TBI in the context of executive functioning and sports concussions in athletes, especially with my own experience as a university athlete.

As a graduate student in clinical psychology, I hope to develop skills and learn ways to assess and diagnose those with potential neuropsychological or developmental disorders. I aim to use my training as diversely as possible so that I can teach at a university, conduct research, and have a part-time private practice doing assessments. I am extremely excited to continue my research and education at the University of Victoria in September.

Leanne Ezedebego
Leanne Ezedebego, BSc 2019

I entered the psychology program as a mature student with a desire to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a counselor. My first reaction to the program was that I was in over my head but soon adjusted to the fast pace. The passion, skill, and knowledge of the professors and instructors were central to my success at UNBC. The classes were challenging but also engaging, thought-provoking, and educational. My favourite part was the opportunity to do research as an independent study under the supervision of Dr. Siakaluk and Dr. Beaumont. Being engaged in research increased my joy of discovery, opened doors to different ways of thinking, and produced a deeper understanding of psychological questions.
I will continue to pursue my dream of becoming a counselor in the fall of 2019 as I have been accepted into the Master of Education Counseling program at UNBC.
