UNBC South-Central students have a wide variety of academic resources located on the South Central campus as well as the Prince George campus to support them throughout their university experience. Student Success Coordinators at the campus can direct students to appropriate resources.

Academic Success Centre

The Academic Success Centre has many resources available to regional students. Even though it's located on the Prince George campus, the ASC strives to be responsive to the needs of regional students, distance students, and instructors. Students can access resources from the Academic Success Centre on its website, within Moodle, and through other formats as requested. To access many academic resources, currently-enroled students can log into Moodle to access online tutoring and additional academic resources. Writing tutoring is available to regional students through the Online Writing Tutoring services in Moodle. Downloadable and online resources are frequently added in response to queries or requests from regional and distance students on the ASC website and the Learning Commons. 

Students can also access academic resources through the ASC via telephone or videoconferencing by request. Resources, such as writing tutoring, Study Skills (including LASSI assessments), and content support, are available by telephone or videoconferencing. 

In addition to the resources available through the ASC website and Learning Commons, online workshops can be arranged for interested groups of students. When the ASC runs a workshop, they will provide access via videoconference. Be on the lookout for upcoming workshops throughout the semester. Students can contact the ASC at asc@unbc.ca or (250) 960-6367 to inquire about setting up a phone tutoring appointment or online workshop. If students have trouble accessing Moodle, please notify the ASC staff to gain access.

Access Resource Centre

The Access Resource Centre (ARC) is committed to the goal of creating and maintaining physical, intellectual, and social access to the University for students with disabilities. The mandate of the Access Resource Centre is to assist in reducing the physical, attitudinal, and systemic barriers faced by students with disabilities. The Access Resource Centre is committed to providing access and reasonable accommodations for academically qualified students so that, whenever possible, such persons may be included in all aspects of the University experience.

Delivery of Assignments and Course Material

How to Submit your Assignments

Your instructor should provide you with instructions for submission of assignments. In Quesnel, there is an assignment DROP BOX to the left of the main office door for submitting assignments after hours.  Staff check this box regularly.  If your instructor is located at another campus, he/she may ask you to submit assignments through the internal mail. The University's inter-campus, internal mail is a courier bin service between the Prince George Campus and the regional campuses. Assignments being sent to instructors through the courier bin to Williams Lake will be delivered through inter-campus mail to the Thompson Rivers University campus library for the instructor to pick up. Williams Lake students can use the same service to send assignments to instructors in Quesnel and Prince George.

Delivery Schedule

• Course materials delivered through the courier bins will be picked up on a daily basis and delivered to the appropriate class. Please allow one extra day for distribution of materials on the receiving end.
• Delivery service is overnight unless otherwise noted.  The bin is delivered to Williams Lake and sent out twice a week so plan accordingly.

Label and Date Stamp Your Submission

• All mail should be clearly labelled with the instructor's name and location. Assignments should be date stamped at the designated drop off point before being sent to the instructor. 

At the end of the term you will be given a Course Evaluation Form. Please take the time to fill it in. Your comments are an important factor in the quality of delivery of all types of courses. Completed evaluations should be submitted to the front desk at the South-Central campus. If you are registered in a web course, you will receive an email with instructions for online evaluations.
