The First Nations Centre 
The First Nations Centre (FNC) offers a wide variety of programs, services, and activities that help to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students, create awareness and understanding of Indigenous perspectives and worldviews, and celebrate Aboriginal culture. The FNC team is here to welcome everyone who visits or accesses the First Nations Centre. Beyond supporting Aboriginal students, one of the goals of the FNC is to help create dialogue and an understanding of Aboriginal peoples and cultures to the wider UNBC community.
Throughout the year, the FNC offers some virtual and online programming for regional and distance students. Students are also able to contact FNC staff members through email or phone to connect to answer questions and receive helpful resources. If students have questions about navigating university life, accessing band funding, or connecting to resources, they can contact UNBC's Aboriginal Student Life Navigator, Roxanne Umpherville, at roxanne.umpherville@unbc.ca or (250) 960-5010.
Office of Indigenous Initiatives
The Office of Indigenous Initiatives involves identifying the emerging needs and strategic opportunities for Indigenous students, faculty and communities, and ensuring institutional-wide Indigenization is aligned and coordinated with current and new programming across campuses supporting UNBC’s commitment to reconciliation.

First Nations near Quesnel
The South-Central campus in Quesnel is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Lhtako Dené Nation, Nazko First Nation, Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation, and ?Esdilagh First Nation (formerly Alexandria Band). Lhtako, Nazko, and Lhoosk’uz are part of the Dakelh First Nation, and ?Esdilagh is a member of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation.

Lhtako Dené Nation is a Dakelh (or Southern Dakelh) Nation in the Athapaskan language family and is located in the northern Fraser Canyon region.

Nazko First Nation
Nazko First Nation is a Southern Carrier First Nation with its main reserve located 107 km west of Quesnel.

ʔEsdilagh First Nation, also known as the Alexandria Band, is part of the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, approximately 50 km from Quesnel.

Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is a Dakelh (or Southern Dakelh) Nation in the Athapaskan language family and is located in the upper Blackwater River watershed west of Quesnel and south of Vanderhoof.

Quesnel Indigenous Resources
North Cariboo Community Campus
UNBC South-Central students can utilize CNC’s Aboriginal space (room S128) for studying or learning. Students can contact CNC's Aboriginal Liaison/Advisor in Quesnel, Lori Gagnon, to learn more about local Aboriginal resources and culturally relevant activities.
Quesnel Tillicum Society Native Friendship Centre
The Quesnel Tillicum Society Native Friendship Centre's mission is "to improve the quality of life and meet the needs of First Nations and other people who are faced with adjusting to the social, economic, and cultural lifestyle of the community." They offer family support, drug and alcohol counselling programs, employment information and counselling, youth outreach, mental health counselling, legal advocacy, and cultural programming.

Dakelh & Quesnel Community Housing Society
The Dakelh & Quesnel Community Housing Society is a registered non-profit society that owns and operates 190 units, including houses, apartments and townhouses to provide affordable housing. DQCHS also provides support with tax filings, personal budgeting, and counseling for tenants.

The North Cariboo Aboriginal Family Program Society, also known as the "Longname Society," strives "to promote the advancement and well-being of the children, youth and families of Aboriginal communities in the region and to advocate for and provide programs, services and resources which contribute to community development and capacity-building." The NCAFPS is a not-for-profit organization and provides many services, including child, family, and capacity programs.
