In her fifth and final season with UNBC, Shakirova has emerged as the heart and soul of a young Timberwolves roster that is still learning the ropes at the Canada West level. Willing to leave it all on the floor, the Canada West All-Star hasn’t hit her offensive stride yet this season, but will need to be effective against a Dinos roster full of long and rangy defenders.
Calgary Dinos (5-1)
3rd in CW Standings
78.5 Points Scored Per Game (5th)
69.2 Points Allowed Per Game (8th)
Scoring Leader: Louise Rouse (14.8 Per Game)
Rebounding Leader: Louise Rouse (6.5 Per Game)
Assists Leader: Mackenzie Trpcic (5.7 Per Game)
Steals Leader: Amelie Collin (2.8 Per Game)
Blocks Leader: Louise Rouse (1.5 Per Game)
Player To Watch: Madison Landry, F
11.3 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.3 APG
One of the best players to ever don Timberwolves colours, Landry returns to the Northern Sport Centre as a member of the Calgary Dinos, where she is pursuing her master’s. The six-foot guard/forward is a tough matchup for any defender, and her UNBC career assist record is evidence that the Prince George product is willing to find an open teammate. The Timberwolves will need to pay attention to the fifth-year, but that’ll be no easy task as the Dinos roster is loaded with dangerous scorers.
