Player to Watch:
Vova Pluzhnikov, G
12.5 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.0 SPG
Pluzhnikov continues to look more comfortable in his first Canada West season. Consistently strong to start games, the native of Ukraine is important in all facets for the Timberwolves. Not the tallest player on the court, the guard is not one to back down from a physical challenge at the defensive end, either.
14th in Canada West Standings
62.0 Points Scored Per Game
77.8 Points Allowed Per Game
Scoring Leader: Aldrich Berrios (15.4 Per Game)
Rebounding Leader: Kyrin Cybenko (6.9 Per Game)
Assists Leader: Aldrich Berrios (2.0 Per Game)
Steals Leader: Cam Servatius (1.3 Per Game)
Blocks Leader: Owen Keyes (0.6 Per Game)
Player to Watch:
Aldrich Berrios, G
15.4 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 2.0 APG
Berrios is an elite scorer, and has rounded out his game in his fourth season of Canada West play. Leading the Heat in scoring, he is an elite athlete who is also a standout football player. The Timberwolves guards will look to keep Berrios from penetrating with his speed.
UNBC’s Aaron Brouwer
On the Timberwolves’ mindset…
“It will be great to be back on home court. Our fans are fantastic, and they give us a real energy buzz. We are fighting for a playoff spot, with a lot of teams on the bubble. It’s important to come out and have a good showing this weekend.”
“UBCO scores lots in the half court, and they have a couple really good guards that we will have to pressure and keep in front of us. If we take care of things defensively, and focus on each possession, the results should take care of themselves.”
On keys to victory for the TWolves…
“We would love to see the guys playing with an edge for the entire game. We need to play together. Fighting for that playoff spot, it would be great to see the guys come together and play for one another on every possession.”
