Dr. Beaumont has been a faculty member in the UNBC Department of Psychology since 1994 and is currently a Full Professor with expertise in developmental, positive, and existential psychology.

Mrs. Howard received her MSc from UNBC in 2001, and started teaching there in 2002. She teaches material in research methods and statistics, and conducts research on emotional expression in music.

Dr. Lavallee received her PhD in social psychology from UBC in 2000 and took a faculty position at UNBC that same year. She has an interdisciplinary background having completed a BA in history and a research fellowship in the Faculty of Forestry at UBC.

Dr. Li obtained a master’s degree in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, a PhD and a Master’s degree in Psychology, from the University of Victoria, Canada. Her undergraduate studies were in English language and literature.

Exposure to learning different languages as a child, teen, and then young adult, lead Dr. Owen to be curious about how people acquire languages, and how they learn to read written language.

Linda is a long-time northerner from the far northwest corner of BC who practiced in that area for many years.

Nick has a great deal of experience in the area of cognitive psychology with an emphasis on computational methods to understand language, concepts, and memory.

Dr. John Sherry has over 20 years of experience as a clinician and his academic and clinical work has focused on couples, family, and group therapy. Dr. O’Neill and Dr.

Dr. Siakaluk started on faculty at UNBC in the summer of 2004.
