Northern Historical Conference
UNBC alumna Mica Jorgenson is the keynote speaker at the second annual UNBC Northern Historical Student Society's Northern Historical Conference Feb. 23-24 at UNBC's Prince George campus.
Jorgenson, who earned her master's degree at UNBC with her thesis on First Nations Participation in the Barkerville Gold Rush, is currently a PhD Candidate at McMaster University studying global mining, industrialization and landscape change.
Her dissertation, Ecologies of Gold: A Global Environmental History of the Porcupine Gold Rush, uses Northern Ontario as a case study for the ways that international forces can shape human relationships with a local environment.
In addition to Jorgenson's keynote address, the conference features dozens of other historians.
