War, Resistance and the Dream of Dignity and Liberation

Ten years ago the Russian Federation, waging a hybrid war, occupied and annexed Crimea and pushed into the Donbas of Eastern Ukraine. This hybrid war morphed into a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. However, instead of occupying "Kyiv within 3 days" and Ukrainians welcoming Russian troops with flowers, Russian invaders were confronted with Ukrainian resilience and resistance.

Join us to understand how Ukrainians have been living during this protracted war. Russia invaded to quash Ukraine’s desires to join the European Union, to be a fully independent state, and this desire to be truly European and democratic had fuelled the Revolution of Dignity (following the Euromaidan protests).

Daria AntsyborDaria Antsybor was in Independence Square and witnessed the events that culminated with the ousting of the pro-Russian president and the amending of the Constitution of 2004. She is also a witness to the war, an anthropologist analyzing the resistance from within.
