Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are Canada’s most prestigious and highest valued award for postdoctoral researchers. Valued at $70,000 per year for 2 years, the competition is open to both Canadian and international researchers who have recently completed a PhD, PhD – equivalent, or health professional degree. The UNBC internal deadline for the submission of an “Expression of Interest” is 9:00 am Monday, July 8, 2024 (late submissions will not be accepted). Please email expressions of interest to Crystal Carpenter at crystal.carpenter@unbc.ca. 

Expressions of interest must include: a brief research proposal (max. 4 pages; excluding references), a letter of support from the applicant’s proposed supervisor, and an up-to-date CV from the candidate. 

Expressions of Interest will be adjudicated by an internal review committee. The review committee will evaluate: 1) applicant’s research excellence and leadership in their area of expertise; 2) quality of the applicant’s proposed research program; and 3) demonstrated synergy between the applicant and UNBC’s strategic research priorities. Only the highest-caliber postdoctoral researcher(s)/application(s) will be invited to prepare a full application.

Complete applications must be submitted to the Office of Research and Innovation by Tuesday, September 3, 2024 (by invitation only) in order to allow time to prepare the institutional letter of endorsement. This is the minimum 10 business days in advance of the agency deadline of September 17, 2024.
