Northern Partners in Care, a Shared Care initiative, has been working with Family and Specialist physicians, Northern Health, Divisions of Family Practice and others to improve access and quality of care for the citizens of Northern BC for the past 4 years. NPiC's focus is on improving the effectiveness of family physician/specialist physician communication. Our aim is to overcome the geographic challenges inherent in the North by supporting increased use of telephone, videoconferencing, written communication, electronic communication and outreach visits. This presentation will provide a brief overview of our work and focus on an element of it, outreach visits. Question and answer and comments will be encouraged.
