Congratulations to Anthropology Assistant Professor Dr. Tara Joly, a recipient of the University Excellence in Teaching Award this year. Nominated by students, the Excellence in Teaching award recognizes exceptional instructors who, among other things, inspire passion in their students, create an inclusive classroom environment and foster the development of critical thinking as well as intellectual growth.

According to her nominators, Joly provides students with exceptional experiential learning and practice-based coursework. Field schools, partnerships with First Nations and analyses of local issues create rich knowledge syntheses for her classes. Her students state that they have been empowered by her passion to improve the community around us all.
