UNBC Day Open House This Weekend
February 6, 2003 For Immediate
Release
The University of Northern British Columbia is welcoming local residents
to an annual open house on Saturday designed to provide information about
UNBC programs and activities to the broader community. Organized by the
Northern Undergraduate Student Society (NUGSS), the event will be of interest
to prospective students, their families, and other residents curious about
the research and teaching being undertaken at the University. There will
also be information about UNBC's plans for future expansion.
UNBC Day will begin at 11am with a brunch in the Winter Garden, followed
by welcome speeches and presentations by President Charles Jago, Acting
Mayor Murry Krause, and other UNBC and student representatives.
Also starting at 11am, and running through until 3pm, demonstrations
and exhibits from University departments and degree programs will be displayed
throughout the Agora. There will also be children's activities underway
in the Atrium of the Administration Building.
Starting at noon, student clubs and organizations will be presenting
demonstrations in the Winter Garden.
To wrap up UNBC Day, the UNBC Northern Timberwolves basketball teams
will be hosting the University College of the Cariboo at the CNC gym.
The women's game will begin at 2pm; the men will follow at 4pm.
