Convocation 2006

Approximately 700 students will be graduating from the University of Northern British Columbia later this week during the annual Convocation ceremony. Some highlights:

•    Honorary degrees will be presented to Prince George author Barry McKinnon and nationally renowned scientist Thomas Brzustowski (pronounced Brew-STOFF-ski). In addition, Physics professor Ahmed Hussein will be named a professor emeritus in recognition of his distinguished 30-year career.

•    Governor-General awards for top academic achievement will be presented to Amy Hayduk of the Nass Valley (north of Terrace) and Glen Goodvin of Prince George. Amy will be receiving a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Glen will graduate with a Master of Science majoring in Physics.

•    For the first time, this Convocation ceremony will include students graduating with Master of Business Administration degrees. 17 students have completed the program, which began in 2004. In addition, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Quesnel is producing its first 15 graduates.
