Coronavirus Update: March 31, 2020 - 5:00 p.m.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your continued engagement with me regarding these updates. As I receive feedback and questions from you, I will focus my messages to address what you are raising. In today’s update:
- Assessment Updates
- The Importance of Wellness
Assessment Updates
I received a few questions yesterday from people seeking additional information regarding assessments. Our faculty are demonstrating tremendous leadership in moving to alternative forms of course delivery and assessment. I encourage proactive communications between students, faculty, chairs and deans that will help ensure that our University community understands what is expected as this semester draws to a close. I thank you all for your flexibility and patience as we navigate these uncharted waters together!
The Importance of Wellness
I feel the need to repeat some messaging from previous updates as I ask that you take care of yourself. This situation is bound to unleash a torrent of physical, emotional and behavioural reactions as you engage in a world that is not your norm. Connection to others is important to many and working remotely with little face-to-face contact is unfamiliar to us as social beings. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) website has handouts and reference links you may find useful. And, reach out to colleagues, friends, and family; as a community, I’m certain we’re all willing to support one another!
Please send questions to unbccommand@unbc.ca and be sure to keep checking our Coronavirus (COVID-19) website for the latest information.
Thank you!
Geoff Payne,
UNBC Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
