President’s Awards Call for Nominations - Celebrating 2023 Achievements

The President’s Award for Service Excellence recognizes an individual or a team for their contribution through service to the University demonstrating responsiveness, reliability, resourcefulness, high standards, and/or exceptional customer service.

Consider individuals or a team who have consistently demonstrated exceptional client service, and have achieved outstanding results, have had a significant positive impact on the lives of students, staff, faculty and/or other community members beyond the position’s normal responsibility. They demonstrate professionalism, respect, and integrity in the delivery of the services.

The President’s Award for Creative Initiative recognizes contributions or implementation of a new program or idea that leads to improved productivity, and/or significant cost savings to the University.

Consider individuals or teams who have challenged the status quo with new solutions and applied new ways of thinking that positively transform the campus and community.

These solutions may be new systems, technologies, products, programs, or policies that tackle process, social, cultural, civic, or health and safety issues. They are entrepreneurs who look for a better way of doing their job. They solve problems by identifying an ongoing challenge and creating an innovative system technology, process, product, program, or policy. They create solutions that reduce time, resources, health, and safety risks, and/or costs associated with delivering a service or product.

Two creative initiative categories:

  1. Individual
  2. Team

The President’s Award for Leadership recognizes individual employees for their contribution through leadership to the employees of the University.

These leaders promote workplace well-being and the importance of work-life balance; demonstrate and support equity, diversity, and inclusion for all employees; celebrate individual and team successes.

They provide employees with access to opportunities to develop new skills, and create opportunities for employees to share ideas, improve existing processes or services, and provide feedback on priorities or goals.

These leaders have improved the employee experience through improved services or operations that contribute toward a positive daily employee experience.

Two leadership categories:

  1. Individual CUPE employee (includes academic services)
  2. Individual Exempt employee (includes academic services)

Eligibility criteria

All UNBC administrative and support staff employees are eligible to be nominated for these awards as either an individual or group. Each candidate will have served a minimum of twelve consecutive months prior to the nomination and remain a current employee at the time of recognition.

Nominations are accepted from staff, faculty, senior administration, and students of UNBC. Each nomination must include three supporting signatures and have the Supervisor’s support. Details of nominations will remain confidential.

The ERA Selection Committee consists of representatives from each of the employee groups at UNBC. They will review the nominations and recommend deserving recipients.

Nominations must be submitted via this form by Friday, December 15, 2023.

Nomination statement

Please detail the candidate’s/candidates’ qualifications for this award by completing the information below.

Things to remember:

  • Tell the nominee’s story as you would to a stranger.
  • Provide a complete overview of the nominee or team’s accomplishments.
  • Support the nomination with your own observations, as well as qualitative and quantitative facts, evidence, and metrics.
  • Don’t just say your nominee is outstanding, prove it!
  • State why you feel the candidate/candidates you are nominating should be a recipient of this award based on the given criteria. Include the impact or the outcome that resulted from the nominee’s contribution.

All administrative and support staff employees of UNBC are eligible to be nominated for these awards as either an individual or group. They must have served a minimum of twelve consecutive months as an employee prior to the nomination and remain a current employee at the time of recognition.

Nominations are accepted from UNBC staff, faculty, senior administration, and students. Each nomination must include three supporting signatures and the Supervisor’s support. Details of nominations will remain confidential.  Award recipients will receive a copy of the nomination.

The ERA Selection Committee consists of volunteer representatives from each of the employee groups at UNBC. The Committee will review the nominations and unanimously recommend deserving recipients.

Nominations must be submitted by Friday, December 15, 2023. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
