Extreme weather results in drastic changes in waterways

Rivers and streams in British Columbia were hit hard twice in 2021, first by a heat dome and then by atmospheric rivers. Prior to the weather events, UNBC researchers installed temperature sensors in waterways across northern B.C. In a new paper, they analyze the data to determine the impact of the extreme weather.

UNBC research group launches third phase of Nechako River Basin study

Building on earlier findings, the Integrated Watershed Research Group will embark on the third phase of an interdisciplinary research project with the overarching goal of enhancing readiness for comprehensive responses to the dynamic relationships between climate, water and communities within the Nechako River Basin.

Crowdsourcing air quality

UNBC researchers, in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, created a national air quality map with the help of hundreds of citizens who installed low-cost, internet-enabled air quality sensors at home.

I am interested understanding how glaciers have responded to past changes in climate through the application of various geochronologic methods, most notably cosmogenic surface exposure dating. My research interests are expanding to include geohazards, the influence of climate change on geohazards, and their impact on society.
