Biography
Nikhil P. Aravindakshan received his PhD in Computational Chemistry while working with Prof. Allan East at the University of Regina. His research is on molecular dynamics simulations using HPC clusters, specifically studies on the transport properties of Ionic Liquids (IL) and molten salts. He has held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary through Canada's First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF), where he studied the mechanisms of asphaltene self-assembly relevant in heavy oil viscosity studies. Nikhil is an experienced user of High Performance Computing (HPC) and is serving UNBC as the HPC SLI since October 2021. He has mentored several graduate students and undergraduate students in using HPC clusters, and continues to do so.
Research and Expertise
Nikhil's expertise is in Molecular Modelling. He uses molecular dynamics simulations to study transport phenomena in condensed phases, weak interactions in macro molecules, binding phenomenon in metallic clusters, etc.
He also employs modelling tools in various topics in Chemistry and Environmental Science.
