Biography

Earl Henderson, is a respected Elder and Veteran living in Prince George. Earl was born and raised in Portage la Prairie Manitoba and is of Cree, Sioux and Métis descent. His cultural teachings are predominantly from his Cree Elders. Earl has worked in the social service field for over 25 years and has been teaching at UNBC since 2002, and has been appointed as an adjunct Professor for Anthropology and First Nations. Earl has an Interdisciplinary MA in First Nations, Education, and Anthropology and a BA (Double Major) in Anthropology and First Nation Studies, Pre – BSW Diploma, and a Métis Studies certificate.

Earl has over 40 years of cultural teachings around Indigenous practices and ceremony in the Plains and Cree traditions.

Earl’s previous work experience includes positions on boards of Aboriginal Health and Housing Societies, Federal Parole, Friendship Centres and non-profit societies. His consulting work includes Bands, Tribal Councils, MCFD Youth Custody and various Urban and Rural Aboriginal services.
Earl’s focus is that “Culture is Healing”. He works to promote health and wellness through the use of traditional teachings and ceremony.
