- Wood Innovation and Design Centre
Dr. Jianhui Zhou is an Associate Professor in Wood Engineering and teaches in the School of Engineering at the University of Northern British Columbia since July 1, 2018. Before joining UNBC, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta (2017-2018). He was a Vanier Scholar (2015-2018) and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Wood Engineering from the University of New Brunswick (2018). He has led and participated in various projects in the field of wood engineering and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His research interests include wood mechanics and structural design, wood building acoustics and vibration, engineered wood products (mass timber), and Multiphysics in wood engineering. His current research focuses on the serviceability performance in mass timber buildings including building vibration and acoustics, as well as developing innovative wood-based building solutions such as the holistic design of wood-based timber floor systems.
