Health & Wellness Resources

NUGSS Health and Dental Plan

The NUGSS Health and Dental Plan helps cover costs of pharmacy medications, dental, and other services. Regional students need to opt-in by the deadline to obtain coverage and the cost will be added to UNBC student fees.

Counselling Services

South-Central students have access to multiple counselling services through Walmsley, UNBC Counselling, and Here2Talk.

The professional counsellors at Walmsley are available to UNBC South-Central students for short and/or long term counselling services. Sessions are confidential and free of charge to current UNBC students. Students can call 1-800-481-5511 or visit their online website to request a counsellor.

UNBC Counselling provides telephone and video counselling services to regional students. Students can book an appointment by calling 250-960-6369. In addition, UNBC Counselling regularly hosts workshops and events to inform students of practical skills to support mental wellness. They also maintain a list of general resources related to wellness, self-help, and community connections.

All students registered in courses at a post-secondary institution in British Columbia have access to Here2Talk, which is a free 24/7 confidential counselling and community referral service. Students can call the toll-free number, 1-877-857-3397, to access this resource.

Food Bank

Students at the UNBC South-Central campus have access to the CNC Quesnel Student Union food bank that is located upstairs on-campus on Mondays through Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm for emergency food assistance and resources.
